Blackcurrants, also known as cassis berries, are loaded with antioxidants, vitamins A, B, and C, and other good things like potassium, magnesium, iron, phosphorous, zinc, and calcium. But never mind all that—they just taste great!

The tea is imported from India by MEM TEA, a local company known for the high quality and variety of its teas. Tasting notes for this tea include cacao, vanilla, and black cherry.

Like many successful inventions, this one came about by accident, when I was trying to do two things at once and added cinnamon to the wrong bowl. That gave me the idea to try making a milk chocolate ganache with New England maple syrup, cinnamon, and a touch of homemade vanilla. It took a bit of tweaking to get the flavors just right. The result: It tastes like French Toast. Really. The homemade maple sugar topping gives it a nice little crunch.

Valrhona makes this single-origin chocolate from rare Gran Blanco white cacao beans that grow in the tropical rainforest of northern Peru. It has a creamy, deep chocolate flavor with tasting notes of sun-ripened blackberries and a hint of roasted peanuts.
